PRESS: Rostelecom offers to develop technologies under govt control

MOSCOW, Feb 5 (PRIME) -- Russian telecom operator Rostelecom has suggested developing a state-controlled platform to collect digital footprint in the Internet and systems of content recommendations as well as a domestic messenger, a browser and a mobile operating system, business daily Kommersant reported on Wednesday citing a source.

All the projects are valued at 52.3 billion rubles of budget money and 207.3 billion rubles of non-budget money, which makes the idea one of the most expensive among all cross-cutting technologies, the daily reported.

Rostelecom sent a draft of roadmap New Communication Internet Technologies to the Digital Development Ministry, the source said.

The document stipulates evolution of such technologies as systems of content recommendations, recognition of speech and gesticulation, computer graphics, editing of photo and video, virtual and augmented realities, messengers, operating systems, browsers and game services.
